Money makes the world go round

I finally have my bank account set up. Now I just need to get funds deposited to it and a debit card and I can officially feel like I live in the UK.

I stayed home from work this morning to let the plumbers in since my shower has had no water pressure since I moved in. Of course when the plumber showed up and I went to show him the problem the shower was fine. I tried about 12 times over the last few days and it just wouldn't work. No matter how hard I tried to reproduce the problem this morning the shower worked just fine. Our theory is that since it was a new shower that maybe the washer was stuck and it just needed to be primed a number of times.

The estate agent sent over the updated invoice to me - subtracting two days rent for the days I was not able to get into the place. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had also taken off the 100 administrative fee. I'm assuming it was taken off for all my troubles, but I'm not going to ask. I've already cashed the cheque they sent me so they can't have it back!

To answer some questions I have received from people lately.

Do you live in a cottage or a flat?
I officially live in a cottage. The entire building is 2 floors and both belong to me. There are many different terms that I had to become acquainted with during my property search:

Purpose built = Apartment Complex
Conversion flat = Multi-family home that has been converted into two or more individual apartments.
Cottage = Small row houses could be compared to townhouses.

How does a washer/dryer work?
Most places here have a washer/dryer combo. I have yet to try mine and figure out exactly how it works. That's a project for the weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

Are you going to watch the SuperBowl?
Given that the game starts at 11 PM, I currently do not own a TV or have cable, and I have to be in a training class on Monday morning I most likely will forgo trying to find a pub in Richmond that is showing the game.

Tonight's adventure - grocery shopping!

I guess no one cared about this blog you had... or no one had anything sarcastic to write. :)
