Week 15: Sunset in Florence

Week 15: Sunset in Florence by expatdawn

Sunday evening sunset from Piazza Michelangelo. This is the last picture I took on the trip, a beautiful way to end the weekend. Florence is a wonderful city and I had a great time wandering around, climbing the bastille, biking through the Tuscan countryside and eating a gelato or two.

Week 14: A tale of 2 cities

My travels around Europe this week have taken me to Darmstadt, Germany and Milan, Italy. The photos for this week aren't the greatest but rather they contrast the two experiences I had in Gemany & Italy. The hotel room in Darmstadt was a little on the small side. I'm used to small hotel rooms but this seemed tinier than usual. I think my dorm room in college was bigger than this. I had dinner at a pub across from the hotel and had a pretzel for my friend Leilah. The beer was for me :) In Milan on the other hand I was upgraded upon check in, the room was significantly larger. It wasn't the size of the room that I was most pleased with, but rather this wonderful feature. A good soak in a hot tub does a body good after travelling. Week 13: Back Home

Week 13 means I am officially 25% completed with this project. I am probably going to jinx myself but I have to say this has been pretty easy so far. For those of you paying attention to the blog you may notice that I've changed the layout and format a little bit. My blog posts will now include which camera the photo was taken with and the location. In 13 weeks I have used 5 different cameras and the photos have been taken in 4 different locations. The next 2 weeks will add 2 more locations.

This week takes me back to one of my former homes - London. It's hard to believe it has almost been 2 years since I left. While I do feel right at home there are some things that have changed since I left. There are now cycles for hire throughout London, was a little too tired today to try one out. All I could muster today was taking a photograph of them. Week 13: Cycles for hire

Week 12: Self Portrait

This will be the only self portrait I post during this project. Today I participated in The Big Climb to raise money for Lymphomia & Leukemia; 1,311 steps up to the top of Columbia Tower. I finished in a little over 20 minutes. This is me after the race with the tower in the back. Gotta love my double chin :)

Week 12: 1,311 steps - no problem

Week 11 - Fisheye

Impulse purchases are the best. In Glazer's on Thursday to pick up some supplies they had some Lomography Fisheye 2 cameras so I picked one up. Had a bit of fun shooting with it over the weekend. I do need to get used to the framing of it and remember to turn on the flash. Many of the shots were too dark even though it was 800 ISO film.

The photo below is of one of the lovely trees in bloom on Boston street. I love the look of it just not what it does to my allergies.

You can see more of my fisheye photos on my Flickr stream

Week 10: Ike's in Love

This week work took me to Philadelphia and Minneapolis. Ike came along for the ride and I think the pictures say it all. Ike's in Love!

Week 9: The Kittehs

I can't believe I am 9 weeks into this project and haven't yet posted any photos of the new additions to my family. I adopted Tag and Koda in the beginning of January, they were supposedly a "bonded pair." Not sure I agree with that. They don't seem to spend any time with one another unless they are fighting. As a result I am unable to get a photo of the two of them together. So for week 9 I am posting 2 photos one of each it wouldn't be fair if I just posted one of them.

Introducing Tag.
I'm tired of playing
Tag is polydactyl although you can't see it in this photo. He was named because he likes to follow me around, as I write this he is sitting at my feet. He's not big into being petted or sitting on laps, however if I am standing he loves to be held. Tag adores this feather, he actually does backflips over it.

Introducing Koda.
Sleepy Kitty
Koda's name was suggested by my friend Liz. Her suggestion was actually to name one Koda and the other Chrome, however Tag was a more fitting name for the little guy. Koda is trying to become a lap cat, she will sit on the couch next to me every now and then she'll put a paw on my lap to test the waters. Koda's favorite toy is a ball of paper.

Both photos were taken with my lensbaby.
