Week 12: Self Portrait

This will be the only self portrait I post during this project. Today I participated in The Big Climb to raise money for Lymphomia & Leukemia; 1,311 steps up to the top of Columbia Tower. I finished in a little over 20 minutes. This is me after the race with the tower in the back. Gotta love my double chin :)

Week 11 - Fisheye

Impulse purchases are the best. In Glazer's on Thursday to pick up some supplies they had some Lomography Fisheye 2 cameras so I picked one up. Had a bit of fun shooting with it over the weekend. I do need to get used to the framing of it and remember to turn on the flash. Many of the shots were too dark even though it was 800 ISO film.

The photo below is of one of the lovely trees in bloom on Boston street. I love the look of it just not what it does to my allergies.

You can see more of my fisheye photos on my Flickr stream

Week 10: Ike's in Love

This week work took me to Philadelphia and Minneapolis. Ike came along for the ride and I think the pictures say it all. Ike's in Love!

Week 9: The Kittehs

I can't believe I am 9 weeks into this project and haven't yet posted any photos of the new additions to my family. I adopted Tag and Koda in the beginning of January, they were supposedly a "bonded pair." Not sure I agree with that. They don't seem to spend any time with one another unless they are fighting. As a result I am unable to get a photo of the two of them together. So for week 9 I am posting 2 photos one of each it wouldn't be fair if I just posted one of them.

Introducing Tag.
I'm tired of playing
Tag is polydactyl although you can't see it in this photo. He was named because he likes to follow me around, as I write this he is sitting at my feet. He's not big into being petted or sitting on laps, however if I am standing he loves to be held. Tag adores this feather, he actually does backflips over it.

Introducing Koda.
Sleepy Kitty
Koda's name was suggested by my friend Liz. Her suggestion was actually to name one Koda and the other Chrome, however Tag was a more fitting name for the little guy. Koda is trying to become a lap cat, she will sit on the couch next to me every now and then she'll put a paw on my lap to test the waters. Koda's favorite toy is a ball of paper.

Both photos were taken with my lensbaby.

Week 8 - A New Toy

I inherited a Polaroid 600 from my friend Leilah last week. She has too many cameras so I volunteered to help relieve her of the excess. You might be thinking why would I want a Polaroid they stopped making film a number of years ago, but film is still available. A group called The Impossible Project still produces film. I picked up a box of their Silver Shade film at the local camera shop and I was off shooting.

The camera does take some getting used to and the film is very sensitive to cold temperatures so shooting with it yesterday may not have been the best idea. There are some artifacts on the shots from when I put them in my pocket to keep them warm but I think it adds a little character.

Week 7: When The Moon Hits Your Eye

For the past 2 nights I've packed up my camera and tripod, drove into West Seattle to photograph the full moon. Last night the clouds did not co-operate and there was no moon. Tonight was a different story. An hour standing outside in the freezing cold paid off. My favorite photos from the past 2 evenings can be found here

Week 5 & 6 - Weekend in San Francisco

I'm cheating a bit and combining weeks 5 & 6 into a single post. The photos were taken across the 2 weeks as the weeks for the project run Sunday to Saturday. I'm also cheating by including more than 1 shot for each week.

I spent last weekend in San Francisco, the weather was great. I took a nice bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito on Saturday. Prior to the bike ride I had lunch at Pier 39 overlooking Alcatraz. The ride over to the bridge was beautiful, tons of people around but I managed not to run into any of them on the bike.Biking to the Bridge

From Sausalito I took the ferry back, Ike unfortunately misbehaved on the boat:

Breaking the Law

Sunday I headed across the bridge again but this time in a car the destination Muir Woods. Wow the trees were amazing, I am afraid my photos just don't do them justice.
